In the month of July 2021, articles published in Lankadeepa and Divaina highlighted the gender of those involved in crimes, while Derana Aruna broadcast discriminatory content based on gender, which violate media ethics.

On the 4th of September Aruna and Mawbima published an article highlighting women which by extension does not comply with media ethics guidelines.
